Meet the MF team - Emma French

Name

Emma French

Official Job Title

Marketing and Design Creative

But what do you actually do?

My work covers a really broad spectrum. At the moment, branding is a large part of my role - developing client brands as well as our own. I am also dipping in and out of a variety of projects, working in collaboration with our Account Directors and supporting them wherever I can.

So if you could write an alternative job title that really describes what you do…

Brand Custodian

Tell us a bit about your background

My background is in design - I am a qualified Graphic Designer but my work has always covered both design and marketing. My first role was working as a Brand Manager for a contract catering company, where I worked on internal and external communications as well as annual exhibitions. Over the years I’ve worked for agencies and directly for several established brands which has led to an extensive portfolio.

What have been your career highlights so far?

I’ve always had a passion for exhibition design. In my first role, exhibitions were the highlight of the year - from initial designs to the build on the day. It’s a real challenge to create a stand with impact, and when you see it come together in one display it’s very exciting. There are many different elements to consider – size and position of stand, layout, lighting, shelving, merchandise, not forgetting the giveaways! It’s really important to give delegates something memorable.

What exciting projects do you have coming up?

I’m currently working on a whole host of campaigns across the business. We’re working on ideas for a client who is sponsoring an awards ceremony within their industry. We’ve got videos in the pipeline and are storyboarding some animations. The variety of work keeps me on my toes and I’m having a lot of fun!

What qualities do you bring to the Marketing Fusion team?

I’m a stickler for folder organisation. My aim is to uphold our MF design studio to the highest organisational standards so our whole team can access work quickly and efficiently. It’s also very important to me be a team player; I support our team through projects from start to finish to ensure our output is the very best it can be.

Favourite tools of the trade?

To me, Adobe In-Design is the ‘Mothership’ and it’s always my go-to option for innovative layouts.
Other must-have favourites are Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.

What makes Marketing Fusion stand out from the crowd?

The MF team are extremely passionate. They believe in the importance of the human connection so their tone and approach is always warm and friendly. Their values come through in everything they do.

Describe Marketing Fusion in a 5-word sentence

Passionate, consistent, high-quality, forward-thinking and creative.

If you could take Marketing Fusion on a team building day, where would you go?

I’d love us to go on a Murder Mystery night. Like Cluedo, with Miss Scarlet in the library with the lead piping. It would be great fun!

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Before jumping into my A-Levels, I embarked on a month-long expedition to Kenya, to help build a school and teach English. Looking back, it was a hugely independent thing for me to do – being so young and going away for so long (it seemed like a very long time back then). It was such an incredible experience and had a lasting impact on me.

What would your 2 essential items be on a desert island?

It would have to be a fruity cocktail and a sarong. So I can be both stylish and merry!
